Richard Gagné

Richard Gagné, ing., Ph. D. is a graduate of the Université Laval where he obtained his bachelor of Civil Engineering. He then completed at the same university a M. Sc., and a Ph. D. in Civil Engineering (1992), both specialising in concrete technology. He joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke as a professor of materials and concrete technology (1992). He conducts applied engineering research in the areas of durability of concrete, self-healing concrete, bio-healing of concrete and roller-compacted concrete. He has published 116 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, while supervising the research of 45 Masters and Ph.D. students, and post-doctoral fellows. Dr. Gagné is the director of the Regroupement Francophone pour la Formation et la Recherche sur le Béton ((RF)2B), which include 11 research laboratories from Canada, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg. He was the director of the Research Center on Concrete Infrastructure (CRIB) (1997-00) and serve on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering (2002-06). He was president of Eastern Ontario and Quebec chapter of the American Concrete Institute (2008-09). He is Fellow of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering (CSCE). He also serves as a trustee of the Camp of The Corporation of the Seven Wardens (Sherbrooke) Dr. Gagné serves on several national and international committees including the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM), Canadian Standard Association, and Bureau de Normalisation du Québec. He was also invited professor at École Centrale de Lille, École des Mines de Douai and Université Nationale d’Haïti.
